We met Tan and her family the way you meet people in Hoi An: by accident over coffee, with an easy warmth that stays with you. Tan has spent over ten years building a trusted, women-run workshop in the heart of Hoi An, a UNESCO Creative City celebrated for its folk arts and craft traditions. Her shop sits just in front of a family home, rented from her uncle, where work and life flow together as they have for generations. Her husband, also named Tan, runs a nearby cellphone store.
Tan is known for her integrity and skill. She uses double leather inside and out and is vocal about avoiding fake leather. With five-star reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, and customers who return even a decade later her work reflects the craftsmanship and care the Travwell brand is known for.
